"It's Live and Anything Can Happen"

At the end of the PBS documentary, Broadway: The American Musical which premiered Oct. 19, 20, and 21st., Harvey Fierstein utters the words,

"It's live, and anything can happen."

Of course, he was talking about the Broadway show in general; however, the phrase has been in my mind all day. How like life it is, "It's live, and anything can happen." World Series play-off wins, idiots who celebrate the wins with vandalism, an innocent reveler killed by a non-lethal projectile, unprovoked wars, friends and loved ones divided by shit-laden propaganda ads on both sides, obscene t-shirts that read 'protect our civil rights' that lead to supporters being thrown out of a rally. I guess it is life; it's live, and I guess anything can happen.

Somehow, I don't think that's what Harvey meant, or what the writers, producers, and performers of those Broadway shows meant either.
